What is the SwaddleMe By Your Bed Infant Sleeper?
The SwaddleMe By Your Bed Infant Sleeper is a brand of infant inclined sleepers. A Consumer Reports investigation revealed that a number of infant injuries, and deaths linked to infant included sleepers.
The gist of the report is that these products are intended to put infants to sleep at an incline within 10 degrees and 30 degrees. These sleepers are insecure because they can allow an infant’s head to fall forward and hinder breathing, leading to suffocation and possible death.
In October 2019, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) voted to proceed with a proposed ban of all baby inclined sleepers after a study commissioned by the agency found they pose significant risks.
SwaddleMe By Your Bed Infant Sleeper Recall Details
Summer Infant is directing a voluntary recall in combination with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) involving the SwaddleMe By Your Bed Sleeper, an inclined sleep product. Infant fatalities have been reported with other manufactures’ inclined sleep goods after babies turned from their back to their stomach or side, or under different circumstances.
As of the posting of this recall, there have been no reported fatalities with the Summer Infant SwaddleMe By Your Bed Sleeper.
Consumers are advised to stop using the By Your Bed Sleeper immediately. For consumers currently using this product, Summer Infant is offering the following assistance:
If you purchased a By Your Bed Sleeper between January 29, 2019 and January 29, 2020:
A check in the amount of $99.00 will be issued within 30 days of submission of the request, proof of dated purchase, and evidence of destruction is required.
Consumers who purchased a By Your Bed Sleeper prior to January 31, 2019:
A voucher will be issued in the amount of $99.00. This voucher is redeemable toward the purchase of products available at www.summerinfant.com, within 30 days of submission of the request, proof of purchase, and evidence of destruction is required.
